Maybe you’re tired of all the running around to get ready for Christmas. Perhaps you’d like to consider a last minute getaway to someplace that will provide you with a chance to rest and enjoy time with your family, while still being a le to share in the spirit of the holidays! We put together a few options for you and as of press time, space was still available for last minute bookings over the holidays. Whether it’s on land, at sea or a quick trip by air, take a look at some of these ideas. Bethlehem, PA. This Christmas city, located just over an hour north of Philadelphia is a wonderful place to visit during the holidays or any time. With lots of shops, restaurants, walking tours, and even a casino, along with plenty of nightlife, there’s something for the entire family. The Historic Hotel Bethlehem, conveniently located in the center of town offers packages over the holidays and is beautifully decorated for the season. New York City   A trip to Manhattan to see the famed Rockefeller Center tree, along with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an excellent way to get into the holiday mood. Skate on the rink at Rockefeller Center while you’re there, stop by the holiday market in Bryant Park and stroll along Fifth Avenue looking at the beautiful window displays. Many hotels, including the Plaza, New York Marriott Marquis, the Bryant Park Hotel offer holiday packages. Keep in mind that most hotels in NYC close to Times Square are fully booked for New Year’s Eve though you might be able to find a place to stay. Expect to pay a premium rate over the New Year’s holiday weekend. Disney World Orlando’s most famous theme park will sparkle for the holidays. Even this close to Christmas, rooms are still available at several hotels on the Disney property. New Year’s Eve is also a very special time in the Magic Kingdom, featuring special meals, celebrations and even fireworks! Caribbean Cruise   Believe it or not, there are still some cabins available for holiday sailings, even at this late date. Norwegian Cruise lines has space on voyages departing Miami, aboard Norwegian Escape, for sailings leaving on December 24th or 31st. Both Norwegian Breakaway, from NYC and Norwegian Getaway, also from Miami still have cabins available as well. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have some cabins left on various ships, as does Carnival but these are in very limited supply. Holland America has cabins on several ships sailing from Ft Lauderdale and Tampa. Contact your travel agent for assistance in finding these empty cabins. All inclusive to the Caribbean and Mexico   Finally, you can find availability for all-inclusive vacation packages to Mexico (Cancun/Riviera Maya), Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Montego Bay, Jamaica for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. While you can expect to pay slightly higher prices, you can still escape the cold and spend Christmas on the beach sipping your favorite umbrella drink! Again, contact your travel agent to make these last minute bookings easy. There are hundreds of options, even at this late date. Keep in mind that lots of people travel over the holidays and there will be bigger crowds and greater chances of flights being full, or even cancelled due to weather. Be flexible, leave plenty of time, double check your travel documents and pack your patience.
