Lambertville, NJ

Luggage Factory’s hometown, Lambertville, NJ is a charming destination located along the Delaware River, about 5 miles north of the place where George Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas night in 1776, changing the momentum of the Revolutionary War. Named in 1814 after former United States Senator John Lambert, our town was known for factories due to its location along the river, Delaware Canal and the former United New Jersey Railroad and Canal Company. Once motorized vehicles game into existence, the canal was no longer as important to the town as it once was, and factories began to shut down. This also caused many people to leave the town in search of other jobs. Eventually people who left town began moving back and started to establish art galleries, antique shops, restaurants and lodging establishments. Residents began restoring old Victorian homes and the town again grew in popularity for both locals and visitors alike. These days, Lambertville, along with her neighbor, New Hope, PA just a short stroll across the bridge, attract visitors to annual events such as the Shad Festival and the New Hope Auto show.
